

Nejc Merc
After graduating from the Maribor Conservatory of Music, he continued his studies at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana and in 2014 completed his Master's studies in the class of Professor Darek Rošker with honours and a special commendation (Diploma summa cum laude). During his studies he participated in several national and international solo and chamber music competitions and achieved outstanding results. As a soloist he has performed with the Ljubljana Academy of Music Orchestra, Brass Band Slovenia, Brassimo Brass Ensemble, Stadkapelle Deutschlandsberg, Maribor Conservatory of Music and Ballet Orchestra and other orchestras in Slovenia, Austria and Croatia. She regularly works with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, and occasionally with the Symphony Orchestra of the with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the brass ensemble of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the wind orchestra of the Academy of Music in Ljubljana and the Maribor Conservatory of Music and Ballet. He is a member of the AGIS Euphonium Quartet and Brassimo Brass Ensemble. At home and abroad he performs summer schools, seminars, solo concerts and concerts in various chamber groups. He is also a jury member and participates in the preparation of recitals for various international competitions. As a studio musician, he records and participates in genre-diverse projects (over 20 CDs and two vinyl albums). In 2021 he recorded his first solo audio CD Mercphonium. Nejc plays the Besson Prestige euphonium. Together with the internationally renowned and renowned brass instrument makers Lechner, he developed and plays his Bellfront Baritone model Fritzi. He is the recipient of the student Prešeren Prize. Since 2013 he has been working at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet in Maribor, and for 11 years he was also the director of the Center School Wind Orchestra. Since 2017 he has also been teaching at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. His students have achieved outstanding results at national and international competitions, passed entrance examinations at various renowned universities in Europe and successfully audition for the Slovenian Armed Forces and Slovenian Police brass bands.
